Chennai Foodbank-R.Y.A Metro

CHENNAI FOODBANK is a non-profitable voluntary organization WORKING FOR A HUNGER FREE WORLD SINCE 1993. It is a project of Rajasthan Youth Association Madras Metro Trust. A journey of Service Through Fellowship started by a group of young Rajasthani’s to serve the needy. In the year 1993 thirteen charitable institutions were given a helping hand to provide one time meal to all the inmates and today Chennai Food bank is supporting more than sixty five orphanages, old age homes, homes for mentally challenged, and differently abled people feeding more than 15,000 inmates & distributing more than 10000 kgs of food grains per month.

Chennai Food bank is an organization with an extremely transparent system having certified ISO 9001 – 2008 first NGO. We collect food grains from donors and distribute it to needy people. We have also been in the forefront in providing food grains during natural calamities in various parts of the country. Generous individuals and families set apart a Fistful of food grain everyday in special containers given to them. We collect the containers on a monthly basis covering nearly 20 different routes all over Chennai in our own vehicle. By this MUTHI BHAR ANAAJ SCHEME as we have named it we mobilize around 5000 kgs of food grains every month. These food grains are then cleaned, repacked and distributed. Besides this regular collection we also get bulk donations in the form of food grains BHORI BHAR ANAAJ or by cash ANNADHAN DONATION which is utilized for purchase of food grains. The food grains are allotted for distribution every Friday from our own premises at No.12, SARAVANA STREET, T.NAGAR, CHENNAI – 17. We reach out to needy people not only in Chennai but also to other places by our Reaching beyond Reach. Our beneficiaries include homes from Kanchipuram, & Vandavasi.

Now Chennai Food bank is reaching beyond Human……Animals…… It is their world too. By this programme CFB reaches out beyond human beings to living things that cannot express their hunger. We are committed to an annual donation of more than six tons to animal welfare. We are happy to mention here about the rare distinction achieved by conducting an event ‘APNA BANALO” twice providing a day full of fun, joy, happiness & entertainment combined with delicious food for more than 10000 children from various orphanages in and around Chennai at Kishkinta Theme Park. APNA BANALO – A Divine Journey to Tirupathi. 1008 children from different orphanages & special children had a joy filled trip to Tirupathi in a special chartered train and had the blissful darshan of Lord Balaji. Most of the children had the experience of travelling in a train for the first time. Our small effort to bring happiness in the life of God’s own children.

During the year 2013 – 2014, we had a continuous screening of a Tamil movie on a single day @ Pilot theatre, Chennai for more than 2000 children from various beneficiaries with delicious food. For some children watching a movie was a first time experience. During the year 2014, we also organized a camp at Avvai Home and around 800 children from our beneficiaries had a joyful day of entertainment by kolly wood star Madan Bob and his troupe and they enjoyed a lot and had delicious lunch. We are in the path of service for the past twenty two years. Join us in our Mission to SERVE THE NEEDY with a Vision of WORKING FOR A HUNGER FREE WORLD. We extend our invitation to you and members of your organization to visit us personally and have an insight on our activities.
